Spurs' First-Ever Win over Real Madrid Was a No-Doubter

There's a theory that's been making the rounds for some time, stating that big-brand clubs are being hampered by their domestic league commitments.

Its premise is their dominance undermines their competitiveness in international matches.

This has been one of the arguments some parties have put forward in their advocacy for a Super League that further distances its members from domestic leagues.

The Premiership's so-called Big Five clubs have been prominently mentioned as England's proposed Super League contingent.

That group doesn't include Tottenham Hotspur.

They certainly had more direct matters on their minds at Wembley. After their confidence-building Champions League draw  with Real Madrid at Camp Nou, Spurs were intent on proving they were the Spanish giants' equals.

Currently, they've made their point.

A pair of goals by Dele Alli after excellent build-ups and an exclamation point added by Christian Eriksen spearheaded a night of triumph as Spurs routed Real, 3-1:

This match marked the return of Harry Kane, and even though he didn't score, he kept the attention of Real's defenseto  sufficiently expose its weakness.

Foremost in that matter was Casemiro.

Dude's beyond slow at this stage of his career, not that he was ever known for speed. Add his lack of decision-making prior to the moment, and his poor responses are surely becoming a growing concern for Los Blancos.

Group H has long since been decided:

Spurs' form has been the story here.

Their next task is to add consistency to it.
