Portugal's Ronaldo Lays a Bitta Bad Luck on Morocco
Some may claim football is all about skills, money, and history.
Indeed, it is all about that.
However, never discount the presence of luck.
Morocco knows all about that in this World Cup. For the second game in a row, dudes were yet again better than the opponent but ended up losing.
In a match where those feisty Lions of the Atlas absolutely had to earn at least a point and needed to be both physically and mentally there from kickoff to whistle, they weren't.
By the time Morocco did lock in, they were down 1-0 complements of an early Cristiano Ronaldo header.
As Lady Luck would have it, that was the final.
The game had barely started, and Portugal struck in the fourth minute.
After a good Bernardo Silva corner, Ronaldo struck:
Morocco tried to respond with a sterling effort from captain Mehdi Benatia, but the Wolverhampton Wolves' Rui Patrício made his first great save in the game:
Then, Portugal slowed the pace and satisfied itself waiting for counters while frustrating anything the Maroccans could throw at them.
Patrício was on his game again after the intermission. The Portuguese 'keeper made at least four more strong saves, including this pair:
That's how three points was banked for Portugal.
Hakim Ziyech and Nordin Amrabat were the best Moroccan players, always dangerous with the ball. Unfortunately for them, not dangerous enough in this one.
As such, dudes are done like dinner is Russia.
As to Ronaldo, what would a match be these days if he wasn't breaking some sorta record?
This time, dude's become the highest-scoring European in the history ofr international competitions, with 85.
Just another day at the office for him.
