Me-First 'Keeper Allows Penalties Goal That Gives League Cup to Man City
If there's a Karma Exchange somewhere, we can only wish that it'd book Kepa Arrizabalaga to be the first guest on José Mourinho's talk show in Russia.
And the topic would be playing for Chelsea FC.
While that in itself would likely be a Bizarro World treasure trove, it now appears that the real entertainment would happen when Mourinho tries to introduce the next guest.
Chelsea got to the Carabao Cup final by toppling a Tottenham Hotspur club that couldn't convert a penalty sans Harry Kane.
In this one, they couldn't finish anything in regulation. Then again, neither could Manchester City, and as hot as the Sky Blues have been, that's saying something about Arrizabalaga and the crew in front of him.
City was pushing the Blues all over the pitch, and it showed:

Really, Chelsea did well to take the match to penalties after going 0-0 for the full 90 and 30 minutes more of extra time.
The action was fast and furious, though. Let's pick it up in the second half:
Arrizabalaga quite clearly cramped up at the end, which is why Sarri decided to go with his backup, Willy Caballero, to defend the upcoming penalties.
Dude spent 15 minutes getting hot, but it was not to be:
No respect, indeed. The term insubordination comes to mind.
The high-priced Spaniard thus put himself on Front Street, and it didn't work out so well:
Football isn't supposed to be like the NBA, where coaches are routinely ignored.
Suffice to say this episode didn't go down very well with the supporters.
Soon thereafter, both 'keeper and manager claimed it was all a misunderstanding. But this isn't Oz and Kansas. No one's waking up from this nightmare, and it's ever more likely one will soon be leaving.
Maybe Sarri can find a talk show to host, too. With this season alone, he'd have a lot to say.
Meanwhile, a bemused Manchester City still has hopes intact of achieving a quadruple. What a season.
