Lukaku Scores, Mourinho Sent Off at Southamption
In modern times -- or at least since 1966 -- the Southampton Saints have led a cozy existence, with most of it being in England's top tier.
Even during their two-season banishment to the third level, their crowds average 20,000-plus.
They actually qualified for Europe a couple of times -- most lately in the past two seasons -- but didn't last long.
But urgency has never seemed to be a part of Southampton's DNA. They win a few, lose a few, and draw a few more, selling players to the big clubs for a tidy profit when the opportunity arises.
No matter what, that steady attendance just keeps on whirring through the turnstiles.
The Saints, like most clubs, look forward to a big brand's visit, as that usually adds to the gate. In this weekend's case, Manchester United swelled the crowd to 31,930. They saw the Red Devils post a 0-1 result, but most of the action after the goal came from Southampton.
It was José Mourniho's classic tactic of parking the bus.
Although, dude didn't do a good job of parking his patootie, and got sent off as a result.
That came in the later stages, well after after his scoring stalwart in the season's early going -- Belgian international Romelu Lukaku -- did what he does best in the 20th minute.
There are no style points in the table, it's a road win, and United's fine with that.
Speaking of fine, that may be what's next for Mourinho, and even more costly, a suspension.
