Kane Rediscovers Scoring Touch, Spurs Douse Seagulls

Losing three matches on the trot -- two in the Premiership, one in the Champions League -- didn't dampen Tottenham's spirits in their quest to get back on track.

Mauricio Pochettino’s side absolutely ran roughshod over Brighton & Hove Albion and thoroughly deserved their 1-2 victory, which flattered the hosts to deceive.

Better yet, their vaunted striker got himself going again, and that's essential to Spurs' fortunes.

If Harry Kane had been feeling a spot of fatigue with the World Cup occupying most of his summer, he looked refreshed in the rain here.

Spurs totally claimed the pitch from the start. The stat sheet has them at 71%, but really that had to be giving the Seagulls credit for holding the ball when play would halt.

Tottenham served notice that this was the way it'd be all afternoon when Toby Alderweireld launched a header that Mat Ryan reflexively saved:

In the 41st, Kieran Trippier’s shot ended up being blocked by Glenn Murray’s hand inside of the box. No bueno.

Who else but Kane to step up and confidently send Ryan to the wrong way:

Brighton defends its turf at Amex Stadium, though, as Manchester United found out the hard way.

Anthony Knockaert almost knocked one home after a corner, but Paulo Gazzaniga was up to the task:

That gap grew in the 76th, however, when the Spurs extended the lead through substitute Erik Lamela.

Danny Rose’s cross found the Argentine in position to sweep home into the bottom corner:

It took three minutes of bonus football for the Seagulls to get their lovely parting gift.

Knockaert redeemed himself when he drove and curled an effort from the left:

At the very least, it rewarded the locals for sticking it out in the stormy weather.

But it was Spurs who went home happy. Their HarryKane was in form again.
