Champions League Quarter-Final Draw Features a Premiership Turf War

English disappointment in Champions League competition has been halved.

With the Premiership's contingent in bracket play dropping like flies, there was only one way to ensure that it'd have a presence in the semi-finals.

And that was to draw their two remaining clubs together in the quarters.

With a simple rule change, this became possible.

 

Then, the possible became the reality.

At least Liverpool and Manchester City won't suffer from travel fatigue.

Their grounds are less than an hour away from each other.

 

The Reds and Citizens split their conference matches this season:

  • City clobbered the 'Pool on Sat 9 Sep, 5-0.
  • Liverpool edged City, 4-3, on Sun 14 Jan.

Seems like we can rest assured their next two clashes won't be barren of shots.

Tell the two English sides about it.

Four clashes in one season is a bit much, but when all is done and dusted, at least one of them won't be complaining.
