Brighton & Hove Expose Arrogant Manchester United

And here the world's richest club figured their field trip to the South Coast would give the Seagulls a reason to add a premium to ticket prices.

Well, they're right.

Brighton & Hove Albion -- albion, incidentally, is a medieval term for Britain -- join a number of teams who add a bitta price when the big clubs come to town.

These dudes, though, have turned spending it into an art form.

In short, the Seagulls will never be one of the chosen few, but it's not wise to take them lightly.

Now the Red Devils know better.

Brighton was looking for their first win of the season, but who knew it'd come against Jose Mourinho's £147million payroll?

It seemed like United felt all they needed to do was toss their jocks on the pitch, but the Seagulls had different ideas.

Brighton broke from the gate in total agression mode, and it put the Red Devils on their heels. Even though the home side lost their captain Lewis Dunk to injury in the 21st minute, the tone had been set.

In the 25th minute, a solid cross from Solly March resulted in the day's first goal when Glenn Murray smartly tapped in, beating David de Gea:

Two minutes later, Amex Stadium pulsed again.

After a cross from the left, the ball found its way to Shane Duffy who fired home:

United stabled their ship in the 34th through Romelu Lukaku.

The Belgian international took a cross from Luke Shaw and headed the Red Devils onto the scoreboard:

This had been quite the first half, and Brighton wasn't done.

United's defense was an absolutely unprepared shambles, giving 'way too much space and rarely recovering. This created more damage in the 44th minute after a surgical deep ball set up Pascal Gross being brought down inside of the box by Eric Baily.

The referee didn't hesitate with his decision. Gross set up at the spot, and voilà:

It turned out to be the strike that sealed the surprising deal.

After the break, Brighton found their own bus to park. The Red Devils took control, but chances were few and far between.

Paul Pogba had his moments, forcing Maty Ryan to make a few good saves, but he wasn't overly tested by any of them.

It's not often a giant like United is left with a lovely parting gift, but that's essentially what it was when Marouane Fellaini was brought down inside the area in the 94th minute.

As Pogba was the only Devil who looked like he actually gave a damn over the course of the match, he's the dude who stepped up and converted the penalty:

Clearly, odds are even United might rue the lost points here come springtime.

Meanwhile, odds are even better that, by spring, every football fan living within an H-bomb strike of Brighton will swear he was at the Amex to see this.

Maybe that'll even include Hove's most famous DJ and whatever hallucinator he found for a choreographer.
