Arsenal Pops 2 Goals in 3 Second-Half Minutes to Top Everton

Is Aaron Ramsey coming into his own at last?

The Welshman could well have been Arsène Wenger's most frustrating project, never really blending into his schemes.

It certainly wasn't what the Gunners were expecting based on his run for Wales in Euro 2016.

With new manager Unai Emery placing him in more direct contact with Arsenal's strike force, Ramsey set up the two goals that saw his side clear, 2-0, against pesky Everton.

Until Ramsey provided a spark -- even though one of them looked totally accidental -- this match showed all the trappings of a Toffee attempt at lulling everyone to sleep and escaping back to Merseyside with a point.

The telltale burst of ambition happened in the 56th minute, when Ramsey found Alexandre Lacazette in perfect position to pick his target. Even an outstretched Jordan Pickford wasn’t able to save it:

Three minutes later, Everton's Gylfi Sigurðsson lost the ball on the attack, and Arsenal quickly countered.

In short order, the ball had traveled inside the area, with Mesut Özil seeking options. Dude found Ramsey, but he stumbled right over the ball.

The flub was fortuitous, though, as Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang was there to finish:

You know you're on your way back to form when even the wrong things morph into the right things.

Ironically, the situation seemed to arise from Ramsey's indecision, which has been the story of his life these past two seasons. It's also puzzling. Dude racked up 10 goals in 2013-2014, and he's a more refined player now.

Maybe, because of a wayward step, it's starting to happen.
