Aubameyang's Late Blast Burns Burnley

This was a vintage Arsenal performance, combining offensive artistry with exasperating defense.

The Gunners were firmly in control of the game, and yet Burnley's Clarets had every opportunity to walk away from the Emirates with a point.

However, with Man of the Match Dani Ceballos enginerering the attack, the homeboys prevailed, 2-1. The Real Madrid loanee recorded  assists to Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang and Alexandre Lacazette, offering a hint that he could be football's best acquisition of the summer.

Burnley manager Sean Dyche was having a hard time with that, though, openly wondering when the Olympic diving trials got moved from a pool to the pitch.

Being real, dude had a point. Balance issues seemed to be doled out among the Gunners at opportune times, something that may well draw added scrutiny if it continues.

Arsenal were by far the most dangerous side at early stages, and a goal was a mere matter of time.

It came in the 13th minute from a Ceballos corner that found Lacazette, who duly found the back of the net:

The Clarets responded by pushing the game's pace but conceded too many spaces, allowing Arsenal to counter, mainly through Ceballos. Dude was everywhere this afternoon and always useful.

Still, the Gunners' defensive lapses must be in their DNA or something. Two minutes before half, a brain fart by David Luiz -- fresh from Chelsea -- put Ashley Barnes onside, so when Dwight McNeil's shot attempt was deflected off Matteo Guendouzi, it fell conveniently to an unmarked Barnes, who fired home from close-range:

Arsenal spent the early stages of the second half probing but finding no real openings when, suddenly, Ceballos saw a seam.

The Spaniard picked out Aubameyang with a precision dish, and the Gabon international did the best with a blazing barrage that decided the match:

Unai Emery subbed Ceballos out with seven minutes remaining, allowing the Gunner faithful to show their appreciation for his work on the day.

It was a standing ovation that was richly deserved, as the Northsiders have now won their first two Premiership matches for the first time since 2019-2010.
