The Nashville Predators Will Literally Celebrate Anything
The Nashville Predators raised a few banners the other night in front of their devoted fans.
This is a perfectly normal thing to do at the beginning of a season to acknowledge the accomplishments of the previous year.
They even had three banners, and two of them referenced their Central Division title and Presidents' Trophy for having the best regular season record.
Those things are real.
However, that third banner was somewhat dubious:

Yeah, the one on the right invites more than a few questions.
It would appear the Predators organization has simply decided that having the best regular-season record in the Western Conference makes them regular-season Western Conference champions.
Here's the thing, though.
This distinction doesn't actually exist.
In case you were wondering, the playoffs haven't been rendered moot.
Just ask the Winnipeg Jets, who rudely dismissed the Predators in seven games in the Western Conference semifinals.
Look, we may have been a bit too hard on the Predators here..

These are fine banners. Bold choice and again, we'd rather not see the Jets hang anything like them... But you do you Preds! pic.twitter.com/iMcIAPbkNr
That's well played, although the fruit was hanging pretty low.
Oh, and the Vegas Golden Knights have a dog in this fight also, as they actually were the Western Conference Champions last season.
Maybe the Preds could replace the banner with one acknowledging the number of catfish thrown on the ice during games.
Now there's something to celebrate.
