Stanley Cup: Penguins Hit the Road, Hoist the Hardware

The Pittsburgh Penguins have now won five Stanley Cup titles in their history.

None of them happened at home.

With that sorta trend pitted against the way Nashville's Predators play in their own barn -- 9-1 at home in the playoffs coming into Game 6 -- it seemed destined that this one would come down to a bounce or two.

Or a bank shot.

The Predators and their fans will no doubt harbor a stinging feeling about this result for a long time ...

... probably until some point in the murky future when they actually win a Cup.

The referee well and truly came down with a tragic case of premature whistleation at an embarrassing moment ...

... but it's not like Nashville didn't have better chances and came away empty.

In fact, both James Neal and Colton Sissions might wanna consider trying a pitching wedge with a 60º loft next time:

Among the odd circumstances that produced that Cup-clinching goal is the fact it came from former Predator Patric Hornqvist.

Dude finished the night with only 9:15 of ice time from 17 shifts. The only Penguin forward with less was grinding winger Carter Rowney (7:14).

Maybe catfish were in abundance all spring, but Hornqvist was the one who got away.
