Titans' Henry Channels Bronko Nagurski During 99-Yard Romp

The claim about various records that'll never be broken usually ring hollow.

For example, New York Yankees legend Lou Gehrig got the nickname Iron Horse because his record for consecutive games played looked beyond mortal reach.

And then Cal Ripken Jr happened.

However, there are some records that'll never be broken.

Unless they start measuring in millimeters or something, you can not run a play from scrimmage for more than 99 yards.

Until tonight, it'd only been done once. Here's Tony Dorsett with the Dallas Cowboys in 1983:

Extra-cool fact: FB Ron Springs didn't realize he was supposed to be in on that play.

Dallas only had 10 men on the field.

Here's a better-known but hardly-mentioned fact: The Tennesee Titans didn't run the play that was called before they came set at the line of scrimmage on the 1-yard line.

OC Matt LaFleur baked in an option to the QB sneak play he'd sent in. Marcus Mariota made the right read and checked into it.

Derrick Henry took it from there:

Now, that's an audible!

Especially when it called for a slumping RB to break outta his funk. Safe to say he did.

The sight of Henry tossing DBs aside like rag dolls -- Jacksonville's confirming they have the NFL's 28th-ranked defense -- conjured up memories like the often-cited Bronko Nagurski.

If dude hadn't actually existed, football woulda had to invent him.

Incidentally, gamers can create him.

Henry, of course, is already in the game. Don't be surprised to see him get extra value sometime soon for the killer stiff-arms he showed during that jaunt.

Dude earned it.

Maybe this'll be what Henry needs to achieve what's been expected of him.

If the Titans are gonna make the post-season, dude's contribution would come in handy.
