The Shot Dude: Return of Professor Pigskin
Since there were a few inquiries about when the next fantasy football article would be coming, I'm back.
By popular demand, your favorite Shot Dude has morphed into Professor Pigskin to convey some fantasy NFL lineup ideas.
You can analyze the complete Sunday 16-game extravaganza with the help of the trusty Bovada data tool, located on our Home page:
Since this is the last week of the regular season, you know FanDuel will be chock-full of appetizing games from which to choose.
You know by now that I post my results, win or lose. For the record, my last NFL investment tripled in return, and I'll post how I did this week, too.
Quarterback
Eli Manning, New York Giants ($7500) ... scored over 25 fantasy points in his last home game against Carolina. In Sunday's contest, Manning will face Philadelphia's 30th-ranked defense against quarterbacks. This game has the second-highest total on the board at 52. Others: Matthew Stafford, Detroit ($7700); Matt Ryan, Atlanta ($7600)
Running Backs
Tim Hightower, New Orleans ($7000) ... is not performing like someone who'd been out of the league for three years, what with the 30+ fantasy points he registered last week. The 76 touches this dude's received over the last three weeks were more than any Saints running back got at any time this season. Atlanta's defense ranks dead last against running backs, and this game has the highest total at 53.
Chris Ivory, New York Jets ($6500) ... with Bilal Powell is inactive today, dude will get the majority of the touches today. Snow showers are expected in Buffalo today, so the overland routes should be well traveled. Take the workhorse. Enough said. Others: Devonta Freeman, Atlanta ($8800)
Wide Receivers
Odell Beckham Jr, New York Giants ($8900) ... has had at least 24 fantasy points in 3 of his last 4 games. Pairing my quarterback with his top receiver has benefited me more times than not, and Beckham will want his home fans to remember the player who makes spectacular catches as opposed to the one who makes trouble. An added plus is that the Eagles rank second-to-last in defending wide receivers.
AJ Green, Cincinnati ($8400) ... had his best performance of the season when the Bengals met the Ravens in Week 3. That 10-catch, 2-touchdown, and 227-yard game will be hard to duplicate, but I cannot wait to see if dude can come close. Baltimore ranks 28th in the league against opposing wide receivers, and the Bengals are projected to score 25 points in this one.
Jordan Matthews, Philadelphia ($6600) ... has scored a touchdown in 4 of his last 5 games, resulting in double-digit fantasy totals in those four games. There's nothing wrong with targeting high-total games, and it helps that the Giants' defense against wide receivers currently ranks 25th. Others: Julio Jones, Atlanta ($9300); Amari Cooper, Oakland ($6900); Travis Benjamin, Cleveland ($5400)
Tight End
Travis Kelce, Kansas City ($6200) ... has now caught five or more passes in 7 of his last 10 games, resulting in double-digit fantasy scores in six of them. Kansas City's projected team total is 25, and the Chiefs have a home date with Oakland, who just happens to be 30th in defending tight ends. Others: Rob Gronkowski, New England ($8100); Delanie Walker, Tennessee ($6500)
Kicker
Nick Novak, Houston ($4600) ... is at home indoors and has had three straight games of at least seven fantasy points. I'm just happy to find a consistent kicking option that won't have weather as an obstacle. The 23 points from Blair Walsh last week was simply a lucky fluke and one that cannot be expected every week. Others: Adam Vinatieri, Indianapolis ($4900); Shayne Graham, Atlanta ($4800)
Defense
Indianapolis, ($4200) ... has scored at least six fantasy points in 8 of their last 10 games. Last week's roster was a winner with the six points from the Detroit defense, so a low-cost defense that's been steady at getting at least the same amount was my target. Others: Cincinnati, ($5000); St. Louis, ($4600)
