Richard Sherman Not Cool with Sneaky New Helmet Rule

When it comes to their real issues and not the distractions, the NFL can't spell controversy without CTE.

Now that the owners have accepted it's a topic that needs action, who knew they'd be the crowd trying to sneak safety measures in through the back door?

And who knew a prominent player would be upset about it?

Have we shifted into some sorta parallel universe or something?

If anyone shoulda seen additional restrictions on using helmets when tackling coming, it'd be Richard Sherman.

After all, the Seattle Seahawks have been front and center in exploring new ways to mitigate concussions. That included drills to learn rugby-style tackling, which is more chest-&-shoulders than head-&-shoulders:

Without question, those dudes are dudes.

No way that's flag football.

Given the success of Seattle's defense in their recently completed glory years -- not to mention what that Stanford degree has done to enhance his already impressive mental faculties -- why would he lead the complaints?

Many of Sherman's peers had lost faith in the NFL's status quo and decided it was time to move on while they still had their health.

Seven-year vet Julius Thomas is the latest to hang up the cleats, announcing he'll turn his resources and attention to CTE-related matters.

Fearing this trickling exodus could turn into an outright flood, the owners knew they had to do something. Their task now is figuring out the something that they did.

NFL officials aren't gonna be paid enough this season.
