Here's a Thoughtful Exchange between a Football Player and the Media
NFL media sessions are frequently reduced to the level of farce, particularly after games.
This is primarily the fault of reporters asking the most obvious and inane questions, although the players can be contentious and difficult as well.
This brings us to Deshaun Watson, who fielded a question from a genuinely curious local reporter after his Texans home loss to the Carolina Panthers and provided a wonderfully detailed answer.
You may need to deactivate your Internet filters, as this response is the equivalent of football porn:
Please give us a moment to towel off.
Watson was certainly under no obligation to provide such a nuanced explanation as to how the Panthers shut down his offense, but he did so, anyway.
And that breakdown was actually simplified, which provides a window into just how difficult it is to play QB in the NFL.
Of course, there were some who interpreted this exchange as an athlete condescending a sports layperson.
While there may have been a hint of snark at the beginning, the reporter himself actually thanked Watson for his candor:
Thanks to Deshaun Watson for giving a detailed answer about the Panthers' coverage strategy. I didn't think he was trying to dunk on me, and I'm not naive enough to believe I know anywhere to close to as much as him.
