Blake Bortles: Your 2016 NFL Garbage Time MVP

Let's be totally real here.

Blake Bortles is regressing as a quarterback.

Really hard.

The third-year signal caller broke out in a big way last season with 35 TD passes and over 4400 passing yards. Many expected him to ascend even further this season.

Nope.

Bortles has been dreadful, along with the rest of the Jaguars offense, which does look good on paper.

Maybe this is a reason nobody uses paper anymore.

The team currently sits at 2-5 after their latest loss, a cringe inducing 36-22 dismantling at Tennesssee.

That score looks much closer than it should, in part because of Bortles and his garbage-time heroics.

Once the Jags fell behind, 27-0, dude decided it was time to get busy, and he proceeded to toss three second half TDs and a two-point conversion, much to the delight of his fantasy football owners and point-spread watchers everywhere.

One of those TD passes was on the final play of the game.

Bortles has done this type of thing on several occasions this season, and considering how miserable this team is, it should continue indefinitely.

This is the classic example of a QB putting up meaningless numbers while looking really bad doing it. And by all accounts, Bortles' physical mechanics are getting much worse.

The Jags are so bad, head coach Gus Bradley will likely not survive the season. But keep slinging that rock, Blake.

The pretend football community and chalk followers of this world salute you.
