Uh Oh, Lou Holtz Is Ranting about the Normandy Invasion on Fox News

Honestly, there should be some sorta legal mechanism that keeps college football coaches away from live microphones or recording equipment of any kind.

Actually, this edict would also apply to former college football coaches, because the fair and balanced gang at Fox News decided to book the ancient Lou Holtz to come on and foam at the mouth for a few minutes.

The segment in question was about as coherent as you would imagine.

Oh, and it happened to be on The Ingraham Angle, which is always a special treat.

Indeed, drawing a parallel between World War II D-Day and amateur student-athletes being asked to risk their short and long-term health to play a game that creates an unlimited revenue stream that said amateurs aren't allowed to share is perhaps a bridge too far.

And of course, Laura was more than happy to encourage the crazy while the hyperbolic banner suggesting a war on American life was in progress was flashing below Holtz.

We certainly don't want to suggest that all former and current college football coaches are batshit, though.

One example would be Uncle Mike Leach, who at least provides some entertainment value.

Sadly, Holtz is giving off a strong old wino on park bench vibe by comparison.

As the possibly hypothetical college football season approaches, we're almost assured of hearing more solicited and unsolicited opinions on the subject.

Coaches possessing wildly varying levels of intellect will continue to punch above their weight class on TV and radio.

In the meantime, perhaps Sweet Lou and a kindred spirit such as Mike Gundy can get together on a Zoom video conference to discuss tradition and simpler times.

They should send Coach O an invite as well, provided they monitor his caffeine intake closely.
