UCF Takes American Title, Then Nebraska Takes Their Coach

There's a reason Scott Frost became a multi-millionaire with the stroke of a pen.

The UCF Golden Knights were 0-12 when he assumed the helm two seasons ago.

After steadying the program with a 6-7 campaign last year, dude just finished taking them to a 12-0 record after outlasting the impressive Memphis Tigers in the American Athletic Conference championship game, 62-55, in double overtime.

This game was as entertaining as the Golden Knights' divisional title determinant with USF last week.

After all, the Tigers came into this title tilt with a 10-1 record themselves. The only game they lost was to the Golden Knights in September.

Dudes well and truly picked up their game since then. Enough that this one coulda gone either way:

In all, 51 players on the Knights' roster were part of that winless 2015 team.

The only bummer on the day for them was the business of colleg football wouldn't allow them any unfettered time to savor their achievement with their coach.

Nebraska needed an answer, because the early signing period begins on Wed 20 Dec, among other things.

It was virtually a foregone conclusion that Frost would return to his alma mater and home state. After two years slinging for Stanford, dude transferred to the Huskers and QB'd them to the 1997 national championship.

Their well's been dry ever since. Lately, beyond dry.

The legendary Tom Osbone was Frost's coach, and they've been close ever since. Now they've got every opportunity to be closer.
