Sometimes, You've Gotta Dive Into the Red Tide

To paraphrase Sigmund Freud ...

Sometimes, a blowout is just a blowout.

That means sometimes, don't overthink the mismatch and just lay the damn kajillion points.

While everyone's figured out the Alabama Crimson Tide, they're still grappling with whether or not Nick Saban's gonna take his foot off the accelerator against cupcakes.

If ever there's a time when the sportsbooks are still trying to figure out the season, it's in the first couple of weeks.

The Tide's got a pair of QBs who were battling to be the starter until Jalen Hurts decided to redshirt this season. According to the new rules, though, Hurts has four games to confirm it. So, while Tua Tagovailoa gets most of the reps, it's possible Hurts will make an appearance. In his mind, the competition's still on, so overmatched opponents will get no respite.

Kinda like Detroit Red Wings vs South Park Cows:

Bovada has set this massacre-in-waiting at 'Bama -36½.

They're being charitable.

Alabama made short work of Louisville in their first game this season. The Crimson Tide built a sweet 28-0 halftime lead on their way to a 51-14 win.

Their defense doesn’t appear to have lost a step even though few players remain on the unit from last season’s championship team. 'Bama’s offense looks to have improved big time.

Arkansas State is no Louisville.

Yes, the Red Wolves rolled up 48 points in Week 1, but SE Missouri State is no Alabama. And yet, here's a sample of their passing attack against Arkansas State:

Oooch!

Arkansas State’s defense won’t stop Tagovailoa, his backup, or the Tide's waterboy. There’s a great chance Alabama beats Arkansas State by 42 to 50 points.

ATS Pick: Alabama -36½

Bet at 5dimes

Result: Alabama 57 Arkansas State 7 ... Crimson Tide covers
