NCAAF Week 12 Totals Tout Analysis: Points Party Weekend

It seems ironic that mid-November conference clashes look to feature the offenses instead of the other side of the ball.

Weather permitting, though, the stage is set for just that to take place in Week 12.

Teams with outside shots at a CFP Featured Four slot and more prestigious bowl invitations see their match-ups this weekend as especially crucial to their post-season fortunes.

Riiight. Just putting the student in student-athlete, there. Someone else can solve that.

We're here for more existential predictions.

The best picks aren't always the biggest games, but there are a few with huge holiday implications that look interesting from a point-total point of view. And we're on them.

As usual, we're obliged to issue the reminder that our picks are based on early-week lines, which we all know can be prone to shift.

Thus, be sure to check the current numbers if you're so inclined to take us up on our suggestions.

Wisconsin at Nebraska: 50½

Wisconsin stopped a 2-game losing streak by beating Iowa in Week 11. The Badgers are 1-2 SU and 0-3 ATS in their last 3 games.

When Wisconsin doesn’t win on the moneyline or against the spread, it’s because they don’t score points. The Cornhuskers will force the Badgers into a shootout, though. Back the over.

Result: Wisconsin 37 Nebraska 21 ... over covers

Minnesota at Iowa: 44½

Iowa's defense averages a yield of 11 points per game. Although that’s true, the Hawkeyes haven’t faced an offense as good as the Golden Gophers.

Minnesota forces their opponents to throw, and Iowa can do that. This'll produce points. Expect this one to go over.

Result: Iowa 23 Minnesota 19 ... under covers

Florida at Missouri: 48

Missouri’s offense is stuck in quicksand. It only scored 14 against Vanderbilt. The Tigers mustered 7 versus Kentucky. They posted a goose egg against Georgia.

Florida should dominate. Can the Gators get the over all by themselves? Yep.

Result: Florida 23 Missouri 6 ... under covers

Wake Forest at Clemson: 63½

Wake averages 35.7 points per game. Clemson averages 45.3.

Although the Demon Deacons scored only 17 in Week 11, Clemson can hit the scoreboard hard enough for the over because Wake plays too fast. The Tigers will get enough possessions to do it.

Result: Clemson 52 Wake Forest 3 ... under covers

Memphis at Houston: 65½

The Tigers average 41 points. Houston allows 30.6.

When the Cougars battled SMU, the total ended up at 65. That game went under by half a point. The same thing could happen in this matchup, and we're thinking it will. Under.

Result: Memphis 45 Houston 27 ... over covers

Arizona at Oregon: 68½

The over is 3-1 in Arizona’s last 4 games. The Wildcats average 32.9 points. They allow 37.3.

Oregon’s defense hasn’t stopped anybody lately with 3 over games in a row. The Ducks should score 49 to 56. Arizona must only pitch in 20. Over it is!

Result: Oregon 34 Arizona 6 ... under covers
