Milton's Obliterated Knee Kills the UCF Dream

Apparently, the Joe Theismann disease is contagious.
First, Washington RedDudes slinger Alex Smith suffers a compound fracture -- ie- bone sticking outta the skin -- of his knee 33 years to the day that Lawrence Taylor ended Theismann's career.
Now, UCF's prolific QB McKenzie Milton's gone down with a knee so damaged, the docs' first move was to stabilize it.
Bad sign.
Lost in the mega-bummer is the fact that the Golden Knights stretched their winning streak to 24 games with a thorough performance 38-10 crunching of I-4 rival USF.
Here's the PG version of the day's events:
Note that backup QB Darriel Mack Jr did a damn fine job at the helm after Milton went down. Impressive arm, too.
But this was South Florida doing their impression of the Washington Generals.
If the Knights prevail over a Memphis Tiger squad itching for revenge in the American Athletic Conference championship game next week, their New Year's Six bowl opponent will not have a Washington Generals impression.
And that's right. No matter what UCF does, the best they'll get is a New Year's Six.
CFP Selection Committee chief apologist Bill Hancock has already said as much:
The committee does consider injuries
that may have affected a team's
performance during the season.
Dude at least admitted that the Knights played well after Milton's injury, but still. There's the out clause.
With that ugly truth burning a hole in the Screen of Equity, here's the R-rated incident that ended Milton's college career and UCF's shot at upsetting a big, big brand.
Please note, it features a leg that's not supposed to bend like it's been bent:
Maybe the broadcast was, but Milton wasn't.
This sucks on so many levels.
