LSU Pulls Away from Gators, Which Is Also a Good Life Lesson

Soft schedule or not, no one really expected Florida to be 6-0 coming into this clash with the Auburn game preceding it.

Then again, all the Louisiana State University Tigers -- somehow, that never gets spelled out anymore -- expected is the Gators would have an extra loss after all was said and done in Death Valley.

Dudes played like it all night, and they were right.

This game may have gone back and forth for three quarters, but the Bayou Bengals had a response to every Florida drive and ultimately wound up corn doggin' it all the way to a 42-28 victory.

If anyone had remaining doubts about Joe Burrow and how he could ignite an offense that had previously been stuck in the 1940s for so long, they don't anymore.

Dude's for real, and so are the Tigers' CFP chances.

In this quadrant of the USA, that matters almost more than anything else life has to offer, and the gruff geezer who is Ed Orgeron, possessor of the perfect football coach's voice ...

... has well and truly fanned the flames of high expectation.

This year, when the defense surrenders touchdowns -- something they'd been doing with a disturbing regularity -- he's got Burrow & Co to realistically respond.

The Gators can attest to this:

The Derek Stingley interception was what ignited LSU's turbochargers.

Their four-play drive followed, and it was nothing but purple-&-gold vapor trails after that.

Being real, dudes only have to go 1-1 against Mississippi State and Auburn before regrouping in a bye week before moseying on up to Tuscaloosa, where they'll battle Alabama in what'll likely determine who rules the SEC West.

It could definitely be all of that, complete with fireworks.

Alabama did the Alabama thing again and crushed Texas A&M in College Station, 47-28.

The Crimson Tide's averaging 51 points per game through six games. After putting 42 points on the board against Florida tonight, LSU's at 52.5.

Right now, it looks to be the play-in for the CFP play-in that is the SEC championship game. It also looks to be well worth the wait
