Most of the schedule this week is only gonna interest fans who rabidly follow their teams and not much more.
Except, of course, those dedicated players who'll lay odds on, say, which bird will fly off the wire first ... just because.
They'll be attracted to anything, edge or no.
Still, there are a few matches on tap that could make waves in the national conversation.
Here's one of them that could get a few wings fluttering:
Ohio State at Penn State
Bovada has the line at Buckeyes -4 and the over/under at 67.
Why bet on Ohio State ...
The Buckeyes (4-0, 1-0 Big Ten) are 4-0 SU and 3-1 ATS this season. They've been favored by at least 35 points in three of its four games this season.
They're third in the nation in total offense, averaging 54.5 points per game. This does include a 77-point eruption in Week 1 against Oregon State, so make of that what you will.
Why bet on Penn State ...
The Nittany Lions (4-0, 1-0 Big Ten) have an offense that's no slouch either. They're averaging 55.5 points per game. Just know the opposition has basically provided them with glorified scrimmages.
James Franklin's crew is 2-3 straight up and 3-2 ATS when getting points at Beaver Stadium. More significantly in this game is the fact that they're 2-0 in their last two games as home dogs.
Instant analysis ...
The game total has gone over in nine of Ohio State’s last 12 Big Ten conference games. Combine that with Penn State’s game total going over in six of its last seven Big Ten conference games, and the odds-on play is screaming at us.
Over/under pick: Over 67
Result: Ohio State 27 Penn State 26 ... total: 53 ... under covers
