Angry White Dude: What? Don't Pick Us?

So it looks like a team was feeling a bit overlooked and disrespected before the NCAA tournament got underway.

Yes, the Tennessee Volunteers released a video asking people to not pick them!

OK, why would we?

Yes, the Vols were picked by the media to place 13th in the SEC this season. Still, who really cares what a bunch of pencil pushers think anyway?

Guess Tennessee does.

 

Hey, if you need to make a video for inspiration and motivation, you just might have bigger problems than the media thinking you stink.

OK, let's congratulate Tennessee on sharing the regular season SEC title with Auburn. The media wants us to think that the SEC is a basketball powerhouse. We all know how smart the media is, right?

Well, actually, sometimes we're close.

 

I'm not saying that the Vols didn't have good year.

• Dudes ended up 26-9,
• They beat Kentucky twice during the regular season, but
• They did drop the third game to the Wildcats in the SEC Tournament. 

That loss, of course, prompted the silly saying, it's tough to beat a team three times in one season. 

Who make these sayings up? Losers do!

 

So the Vols limped into the Dance as a 3-seed. They knock off that basketball mainstay Wright State in Round 1, 73-47. 

 

I'm guessing they must have watched their motivational video before that game.

Perhaps someone from Loyola-Chicago stole the DVD after that! Tennessee fell to the 11th-seeded Ramblers, 63-62.

I don't know about you all, but when I'm talking NCAA basketball and the top teams, Loyola-Chicago is right up there with all the blue bloods or college basketball.

Right?

 

Once again Tennessee had a great season:

• Rick Barnes can flat-out coach; SEC Coach of the Year!
• They had the SEC Player of the Year!
• They had the fourth-hardest schedule in the country.

Still, dudes are one and done in the Big Dance.

Let that sink in.

After you win the NCAA title.

You look a bit foolish right now, Vols. I wonder how you feel.
