Westbrook Ties Triple-Double Record

The 2017 NBA season is nearly complete.

With around five games left, the playoff picture is taking solid shape.

Sure, there are still some loose ends to tie up, but who really cares about which team gets the 8-seed in the West?

They’re just gonna get smoked in four games by the Warriors in Round 1.

However, there's still something of great importance left in the NBA regular season.

That would be the Russell Westbrook Triple-Double Quest.

For those in need of a refresher, a triple-double is when a player hits double figures in three separate stat categories. It's kinda hard to do.

But this year, Westbrook found himself on a club without a Harden, Ibaka, and -- most prominently -- Kevin Durant.

No longer playing second fiddle to the Slim Reaper, Westbrook's been free to release his inner beast on the NBA.

And damn!

The Brodie has a stockpile of fury to unleash.

Westbrook is posting triple-doubles about every other game. To put this feat in perspective, only 21 other dudes in the league have recorded a triple-double this season.

Who's closest to Westbrook’s total?

Former teammate James Harden, with a 'mere' 20.

While Westbrook and Harden may be neck-and-neck in the MVP race, Brodie has blown Harden out of the water with his ability to get triple-doubles.

On a greater scale, Westbrook’s streak is competing with NBA great Oscar Robertson.

But even the Big O can’t stop the Westbrook triple-double quest -- nor does he want to -- as last night, Westbrook tied Robertson’s record of 41 triple-doubles in a season.

As has been the case most of the season, dude was able to get his triple double is relatively quick fashion, logging No 41 in only 22 minutes of action.

As the Thunder were at home, the refs stopped the game and the PA made sure to let the locals know their superman had tied a major feat in NBA history.

Dude's got five games left to triple-double where no O has gone before.

With remaining opponents like the Grizzlies, Suns, Nuggets twice, and the Timberwolves, it’s looking like Brodie has a decent shot at making NBA history.
