Thunder Done In by Melo's Shoe Size

This isn't what the cliché makers had in mind when they came up with it's a game of inches.

It's also not what Carmelo Anthony was thinking when he launched what he thought was a game-tying trey.

But, this was one of those typical mad scrambles in the waning seconds where Oklahoma City was desperate to knot up the score against San Antonio.

Didn't work. On either count.

This was just desserts, really.

Yes, they were on the road against a quality Spurs club.

But still, legitimate contenders don't fritter away a 19-point lead.

And that's why a steady, disciplined buncha Spurs wound up winning, 104-101.

The regular season's quarter pole is approaching, which means teams are compiling enough bodies of work to start ascertaining trends.

In the Thunder's case, one might be measured in the blood-alcohol content of their hardcore fans.

No lead's gonna be safe, looks like they know it, so they could be having a hella lotta post-mortems between now and springtime.

Better chemistry saves lives, dudes.
