South Koreans Say 아니 to Tall Foreign Hoopsters

Let's put this one in the bizarro file.

The Korean Basketball League, which is of course located in South Korea, has decided to shake things up for next season.

This is no ordinary tweaking of the rules, though.

These geniuses will be enforcing a new policy that will bar any foriegn player over 6-feet 6-inches tall from competing in their league.

Up until this very moment, height has always been deemed advantageous for basketball purposes.

However, in South Korea anyway, this sound logic no longer applies.

The working theory is that taller players are slowing down the South Korean basketball product, causing duller games and dwindling attendance.

However, it appears there aren't really that many players over the height limit.

One of the victims of this nonsense is 6-7 David Simon, who just happened to lead the league in scoring this past season with almost 26 points per game.

Here's Simon using his completely unfair height advantage in game action:

Apparently, this has created the interesting phenomenon of players attempting to shrink themselves before being measured by holding heavy equipment or even jogging.

Exaggerated slouching may also be effective.

It's unclear whether this shrinking business is as controversial as heightening is in the midget or dwarf community.

Hmmm, maybe truth is stranger than fiction.
