LA Lakers GM Rob Pelinka Would Like to Tell You a Story

Please gather 'round the dumpster fire one and all, because it's story time.

This horrifying tale involves the once-envied Los Angeles Lakers, a franchise that's now been reduced to levels of dysfunction that even James Dolan couldn't possibly fathom.

You can read the grim details in a lengthy ESPN piece that really plumbs the depths of this epic organizational fail.

While there's plenty of blame to spread around, from the Bron Bron traveling circus to the dubious management style of Magic Johnson, we're going to focus on befuddled GM Rob Pelinka.

The subject of storytelling is a nice transition into Pelinka, as the agent-turned-NBA-executive loves to spin a good yarn.

Like this one involving his former client Kobe Bryant and arguably the best movie of the Christopher Nolan Batman trilogy.

Well, that's certainly an interesting anecdote about two really famous people hooking up.

Unfortunately, not a single word is true.

You see, The Dark Knight was released in July 2008, but the brilliant Ledger had actually died from an accidental drug overdose six months earlier.

So in summation, it would appear that dude completely fabricated this story in an effort to impress a group of young Lakers and Dwayne Johnson.

No Rock, it's probably not going to be okay at all.

While the tyrannical Magic is mercifully out of the picture, the Lakers are still a complete mess, and Pelinka is apparently unable to stop making shit up.

They're so very screwed.
