The Shot Dude: The Water's Fine

Early season MLB is filled with rough waters.

There are still a few position battles to be won and rotation spots to be nailed down.

Your favorite Shot Dude has overcome the tough opening stretch and sailed into calmer seas.

There's an opportunity for a big catch tonight if you follow my lead. You can check out all the great matchups with the help of the Bovada data tool located on our Home page:

Bovada MLBBovada MLB 2

The smart humans at FanDuel continue to come up with great fantasy games for us to play, so go join a few as soon as you're done here.

Pitcher

Clayton Kershaw, Los Angeles Dodgers ($13,000) ... is the silver tuna every time he takes the mound. Dude justifiably commands the highest fantasy salary because he usually performs the best. Many others will decide to spend lower in the pitcher spot, but you can't argue with 79 or more fantasy points in two of Kershaw's last three outings.

Infielders

Matt Wieters, Baltimore ($2200) ... has a hit in his last three starts behind the dish. I'm a big fan of the Orioles' offense against Wade Miley tonight, who has had his worst outings on the road. Not good news for the Mariners, as Baltimore has started the season with an exceptional 16-6 home record. Wieters is a switch-hitter and should hit fifth or sixth in the order.

John JasoPittsburgh ($2800) ... is a left-handed lead-off man facing righty Aaron Blair. Wait ... who? Blair's had a tough start to the season by walking 11 in just 20 innings with an ERA north of 4.00. Jaso's walked 13 times, scored 14 runs in 33 games, and should greet Blair rudely at PNC Park tonight.

Kolten Wong, St Louis ($2400) ... looks great at the plate lately, with five hits in his last 15 at bats, including two triples. Don't look for him to hit very high in the order, but Wong does get to face righty Chad Bettis. In his last three starts, Bettis has surrendered 26 hits in 18 innings and his ERA now stands at 4.56.

Jake Lamb, Arizona ($3100) ... has been a very steady offensive cog for the Diamondbacks' machine with 12 hits and 10 RBI in his last 10 games. Dude's hit his way into the Arizona clean-up spot behind Paul Goldschmidt. Arizona is favored at home tonight, facing the Yankees and starter Michael Pineda.

Eduardo Núñez, Minnesota ($3900) ... should hit second for the Twins in what could end up being the highest-scoring game of the evening. Dude's batting .333 with 14 RBI and 14 runs scored in 29 games so far and will face Detroit's Mike Pelfrey. This Tiger righty has allowed 49 hits in just 35 innings and has an ERA near 6.00!

Outfielders

Jason Heyward, Chicago Cubs ($3400) ... gets to face the struggling Brewers, and his Cubs have the highest projected team total on the board tonight. Dude's on a seven-game hitting streak and will square off with Chase Anderson, who owns an ERA of 6.11 and has given up 9 home runs already this season. Stacking the Cubs will be a popular avenue to take tonight.

Nolan Reimhold, Baltimore ($2700) ... also gets to face Miley, and I would suggest getting at least one more O's bat in your lineup. If Reimhold doesn't start, Joey Rickard should lead-off and is only $100 more. Both Reimhold and Rickard have hits in their last two games, and I think Baltimore will score five or more runs tonight.

Domingo Santana, Milwaukee ($2400) ... is a cheap way to get exposure to a game with an over/under of nine. Santana has been leading off when he starts for Milwaukee and has 18 walks and 15 runs scored in 34 games. I think the Brew Crew keeps this one closer than most think, with Santana crossing the plate at least once.

Your favorite Shot Dude hopes you navigate tonight's fantasy waters into a winning tour.
