Serena Reigns at Wimbledon
Great English word: fortnight.
And when on the courts in London's SW19, Serena Williams puts the fort into that term, as a derivative of the French word forte.
After surviving a third-round upset bid by Heather Watson, the most powerful female athlete in sports today put it on cruise control all the way to her sixth plate-raising:
Despite doubts at this very venue only a year ago, Serena is still at the peak of her abilities. Right now, there's not much that she can't do.
Williams is now in possession of all four Grand Slam titles. A win in New York at the US Open would give her a so-called calendar Slam and would be the first time it's happened since Steffi Graf did it in 1988. If Serena does it, she'd also match Graf's record total of 22 Slam triumphs.
That's impressive in any language.
