Player Kisses Reporter at French Open During Live Interview

So, that was just a little weird.

After losing his match at the 2017 French Open, a tennis player by the name of Maxime Hamou was interviewed by a female reporter.

That's when things took a turn for the surreal.

Prepare to cringe:

What the bloody hell, dude?

There was really nothing cute or endearing about that display, although the crew back in the studio seemed to enjoy it.

The first couple of attempts were bad enough, but then Hamou decided to dive in again and place her in a headlock, for whatever reason.

One person who certainly wasn't having a good time would be Maly Thomas, the object of Hamou's horribly misplaced affections.

The enthusiastic 21-year old player was subsequently stripped of his credentials and banned for the duration of the French Open, although he'd just been eliminated from competition moments before he wigged out.

For what it's worth, Hamou did issue an apology via social media, even offering to do so in person, although his victim might not be into that idea.

Thomas handled the situation with class and professionalism, no doubt following the example of one Suzy Kolber.

For good or ill, we are contractually obligated to insert that clip here.
