Djokovic and Nadal Commit to Mubadala Tourney

Tennis aficionados are getting goosebumps already.

Novak Djokovic and Rafael Nadal have agreed to play in the next year's season-opening Mubada Rafael Nadalla World Tennis Championship in Abu Dhabi.

The tournament will begin on New Year's Day 2015. The winner will be determined on Sat 3 Jan and rewarded with a $250,000 boost to his bank account.

Here they are, doing battle for the crown at this year's Sony Open

Not a bad way to start the year.

Djokovic, currently the World No 1, will be seeking to claim his fourth consecutive title, never losing in Abu Dhabi.

Nadal, the World No 2 and a serial French Open titlist, can equal the Djokovic's record of three titles in this event if he prevails. The Spaniard picked off two consecutive Mubadala triumphs in 2010 and 2011.

Launched in 2009, the Mubadala World Tennis Championship has clearly been dominated by this pair. The first even was claimed by Andy Murray, the current World No 10.

Djokovic and Nadal have a 42-match history that stands at 23-19 in favor of the Spaniard. There was a time when Nadal and Roger Federer were considered the top two. Nadal has dominated that rivalry with a 23-10 record.
