Tottenham Nearly Wets Its FA Cup Bed

On rare occasion, the difference between a Premiership big brand and a Division Two side is totally blowing a shot at a spacious target.

And that's why Tottenham Hotspur is still alive in the FA Cup.

Newport County, a little Welsh side fighting for a way into its league's playoffs, had its chance to claim what would've been an Upset of the Year candidacy, but instead settled for a 1-1 draw and a replay at Spurs' temporary home in Wembley.

One might ask, why dump on a lowly side that was lucky to even have a chance like that?

The obvious response is because will it ever happen again?

When the next super blue blood moon rolls around 150 years from now and Tribbles will have passed them on the promotion ladder?

When 30-year-old grinder Padraig Amond out-jumped Kieran Trippier to head home a goal in the 38th minute after Spurs had predictably dominated possession, Tottenham sobered up a tad and soon brought on Heung-Min Son and Dele Alli as subs.

It eventually took a Harry Kane header nine minutes from time to salvage the draw.

County can only wonder what could've been if Frank Nouble had buried his fourth-minute sitter:

That was a brilliant flick from Son, but still, how does Kane get left so alone?

See you at Wembley, County.

And then, see you altogether.
