Tottenham Dives Its Way to a Draw against Liverpool

The clash of two Premiership juggernaut should produce an exceptional afternoon of football.

And they did, with one exception.

That would be Tottenham Hotspurs' incessant -- and unbelieveably successful -- flopping like flounders.

It was enough to make one wonder how many e-mails from Nigerian princes the referee answers each week.

Safe to say the fans at Anfield couldn't believe what they were seeing. They joined their Reds in frustration when all they could get out of this was a 2-2 deadlock that happened in an even more maddening manner.

The score didn't justify the way this match was played. Yes, Tottenham dominated possession by a 67%-33% margin, but their results came from sheer deviousness and the Reds were much more productive when they controlled the ball.

Fittingly, Spurs' horrid defense handed Liverpool their first goal on a silver platter. An absolutely bumbling clearance led to Mohamed Salah scoring in under three minutes:

The 'Pool kept banging on Spurs' door, but one amazing kick from Victor Wanyama was enough to knock them back to even:

That's what anyone would call a rocket.

A short while later, if someone would produce a documentary around Harry Kane's WWE-level dive, he'd win an Oscar.

Karma intervened, though, and Tottenham's penalty was rightfully saved:

Speaking of the arts -- dark and otherwise -- Spurs figured they'd tallied the best goal in his match, but then -- in the first minute of extra time -- Salah stepped up and produced one of the goals of the season:

Liverpool's very own Egyptian magician.

One would've thought that to be good enough to garner all three points, but the ref's watch must've been set for the Atlantic time zone. Newfies would be honored.

The red half of Merseyside wasn't.

Yet another obivous dive from Tottenham led to a 95th-minute penalty that Harry Kane had no trouble converting this time:

No wonder none of the Premiership referees make it to the Champions League stage.
