Tottenham Almost Gets Bit by Cherries

Someone got caught looking ahead to a midweek glamor match.

And it almost cost them two points.

With a trip to the Bernabéu in the offing, where Real Madrid awaits, Tottenham Hotspur almost forgot to take care of business against lowly Bournemouth.

The doormat-in-waiting Cherries coulda used the point, too. But no.

Spurs will most likely need all three to stay in the race for a top five finish.

They're in the bag now, but for a while, they had to be wondering. Dudes definitely didn't bring their A game. It was already on the way to Spain.

Spurs had no justification in being cavalier toward Bournemouth, though.

They're renting out Wembley this season while their new digs are being built. Frankly, they've still got to prove they're comfortable there.

In three 'home' matches, Spurs have a loss and two draws to show for it.

The Cherries have only scored four goals in the season's first eight games, so a scoreless draw would've been fine with them. Tottenham seemed to be obliging.

Dudes may have dominated the action, but the first half was still scoreless. Then, finally, two minutes after the intermission, playmaker Christian Eriksen stood up to be counted:

The Danish international could well be the most underrated midfielder in the Premiership.

But not in this match.
