Monaco Digs in on Spurs
The Premiership's perennial dark horse had a dark start in this season's Champions League.
Tottenham Hotspur couldn't defend their home ground and got done by AS Monaco to the tune of a 1-2 defeat.
Spurs have manufactured many miracles in their history, but this match was never going to host one. In fact, they could be few and far between in the 2016-2017 campaign.
Bernardo Silva took on the entire Tottenham defense by himself to drive home an impressive goal:
Loose defense against attacking talent more often than not the produces same result.
Thomas Lemar rubbed more salt on Spurs' wounds as he scored the second 16 minutes later:
That was as hot as the Ramones' Rocket to Russia album.
Toby Alderweireld salvaged one goal from a nicely worked set piece, but that was it for Tottenham.
So, Monaco went home happy, and Spurs discovered that it could be a short stay in Europe this season.
