Manchester United Go from Worse to Worser

So much for rising from the ashes after a loss to champions-in-waiting Chelsea.

And the Red Devils' match against Everton was worse, but they hadn't bottomed out yet.

Now they have. Manchester United lost 0-1 to West Bromwich Albion at Old Trafford, just when the race for Champions League qualification became even more intense.

Manchester United may have felt a bit of déjà vu as the Baggies parked the bus after getting lucky with a free kick.

Ka-bong!

United have sharpened their possession, and now they need to sharpen their luck.

But it wasn't happening in this one, as evidenced by the penalty miss from Robert van Persie:

Maybe that wasn't the worst penalty kick, but it was the worst time for him to miss one.

United need to sharpen their luck even more.

Even after all these years, van Persie still seems to be helping Arsenal. With this result, the Gunners continue to hold down third place with two games in hand. One of those will occur tomorrow against Hull City, who are in a much more existential battle at the bottom of the table.

The season's fixtures are winnowing, and wtih Liverpool just four points away, United could well need to win all of their remaining games if they're to experience Champions League air again.
