Manchester United a Winner as Spurs Hit the Wrong Target

Really, all the Red Devils care is they slinked out of Old Trafford on Opening Day with a 1-0 result.

They were totally fine with Tottenham Hotspur bearing gifts.

Manchester United had a busy summer strengthening their squad, which built up serious expectation and hype. The departure of star names like Nani and Robin van Persie raised a few eyebrows, but when all was said and done, both the team and its fans were ready for a campaign's worth of highlight reel victories.

But the only goal in this game -- and the first goal of the Premiership season -- was something no one really expected.

An own goal.

Kyle Walker thus got on the scoresheet, but for the wrong team:

So United got the trois points with no on-target shots of their own.

But sometime, even superheroes have to rely on low-form methods to get the job done.

Manchester United were definitely not the better team on the day, but just having one goal more is good enough in football.

The Red Devils seems to be very fond of such wins.
