Manchester City's Out of the Gate Quickly

No style points in this one.

But all that counts are the three gained in the table.

Manchester City faced off against those relegation zone escape specialists from Sunderland and eked out a 2-1 victory.

Pep Guardiola may be new to the Premiership but not to winning ways.

The Sky Blues didn't really have a tough time with the Black Cats, but there were one or two hiccups along the way.

Not at the start, though. City couldn't have asked for a better one, as Sunderland slid them a penalty in the fourth minute.

That put Sergio Agüero at the spot to do what he does best:

With what could easily be described as opening weekend chaos, it appeared that lone marker would stand up. However, Jermain Defoe warmed the Mackem fans' hearts in the 71st minute with an equalizer:

'Waaaay too much free space for this classy Cat.

But, alas, chaos may have created the universe, but it's not such a positive influence in a team's back four.

Ask Paddy Mcnair. Dude gave Guardiola's crew quite a gift three minutes from time.

And there goes a precious road point for the club that lets too many of them slip away, year after year.
