Gunners’ New Year Starts with a Routine Win

Arsenal are still clinging on to the hope of claiming the Premiership title.

Must've been a New Year's resolution, too.

If so, it was easy to keep out of the gate, as Crystal Palace was their first foe of 2017.

To no one's surprise, the Gunners opened with a routine 2-0 on New Year’s Day.

Arsenal have a very bad habit of slipping on the wrong banana skin, but they were very careful about stepping around this one.

They've lost enough ground in the title race -- blowing a home lead to Liverpool and struggling to a home draw with Middlesbrough didn't help -- and one way or another, this was the one that they just couldn't let interfere.

2017 is only getting started, but Olivier Giroud  has already crowned himself the victor for Goal of the Season:

Their second wasn't as spectacular, but Alex Iwobi's goal was enough to seal the deal for the Gunners.

This win marks Arsenal's 130th triumph in the Emirates. Too bad they weren't all this season.
