Everton's Back in the Win Column at Last

The dark clouds over the Blues seem to be lightening up at tad.

Everton took out their early-season frustrations on AFC Bournemouth in what was still a tight encounter, and the Toffees had to dig deep to get a 2-1 win over one of the Premiership’s current doormats.

It's been a very bad start for Liverpool's other club, having lost four league matches on the trot.

This one had all the signs of their losing control, too. First, there was a dual clean sheet at the intermission, and then, in the 49th minute, the Cherries' Joshua King opened the scoring:

That magnificent run combined with shameful Toffee defending had to end up as a goal.

And there matters stood for almost a half-hour before the dude who subbed for Wayne Rooney in the 55th  minute -- Oumar Niasse -- cut the defense like a hot knife through butter, scoring the equalizer with ease:

Clearly, that effort deserved an encore, and Niasse delivered the winner five minutes later:

Maybe that'll get him a shot with the starting XI in their Europa League clash with the Cypriot side Apollon Limassol on Thu 28 Sep.

Then again, putting in fresh legs for Rooney in the late stages might be the catalyst Everton needs this season.
