Dortmund Dodges Bombs, Dials Up Superheroes to Claim Rivierderby

Borussia Dortmund rattled Schalke 04 late in the second half to secure a 3-0 home result.

Die Swarzgelben have had a rough ride this season but it appears they've finally found calmer waters.

Not that long ago, Dortmund were at the bottom of the table. Now, with three points taken from rivals Schalke, they've climbed into the midst of it all. Dortmund recently suffered a setback in the Champions League but that didn't stop them from turning it around in the Bundesliga.

Maybe the fact that an old World War II bomb found near the stadium has made them more intimidating. Coach Jürgen Klopp is fine with that thought, but who could be finer -- and more casual -- than the dude doing the disarming:

While the land outside the stadium remained explosion-free, Die Borussen was lighting fuses inside. The match saw three goals during the final fifteen minutes of the game. Looks like Dortmund saved their best for the last.

Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang was the first to start the party for the yellow fellows:

Better than the goal was this celebration.

Holy goal, Batman!

The next was not that far either. It was Henrikh Mkhitaryan, of all people.

Talk about firing from both barrels.

The hero of the night -- or shall we call him the Boy Wonder -- finally got his goal.

Damn! It's bad enough when golfers get the yips. But 'keepers?

This derby literally saw heroes coming out of nowhere. And why the theatrics?

Because this pairing is something special. It's the Rivierderby.
