Arsenal Finally Topped the Table

It may have been a one-night stand for Arsenal as the Premiership's pacemaker, but it's progress.

The Gunners edged Everton on Sat 24 Oct, 2-1.

With the Manchester derby ending in a scoreless draw today, City shares the lead with both sides on 22 points after ten matches.

The pedantic fan may claim the Sky Blues are actually the sole leader on goal difference -- 16-10 -- but Arsenal's not that picky. The Gunners surely like what they're seeing after the weekend's action:

Arsenal cruised past German titlist Bayern Munich earlier in the week, and while Everton is nothing compared to that juggernaut, the Blues still are a tough challenger.

It was assist master Mesut Özil who sparked the Gunners' first goal:

All Olivier Giroud had to do was add a nod, and he did.

It didn't take long for the Gunners to hit the scoresheet again, as Laurent Koscielny bettered Giroud’s goal:

Pedantics be damned. This is heading and not nodding.

Everton were never far from finishing, and Ross Barkley finally led the Gunner backfield astray enough to find twine:

But the Gunners had done enough to collect the trois points.

And they're happy where they are as a result.
