Argentina Tops Anthem-Challenged Chile

As they say in the Klingon Empire -- not lyin', dudes and dudettes, we looked it up -- revenge is a dish best served cold.

And here on Earth, Argentina just served it in the coldest of forms.

No, not by scheduling the match in nearby Antarctica, but by beating them in a major tournament hosted in a nation trying oh-so-hard to be football mad.

But not hard enough.

The Argies had already warmed up their own taste for Chilean crow in a match this past March.

But, hell, that was just a World Cup qualifier.

Because of their upset win in the last Copa América, Chile had become Argentina's No 1 nemesis.

And so, here it was, Los Gauchos riding into town for the current Copa and doing the deed by a 2-1 count.

The golden generation of Chile couldn't duplicate.

Whenever these two sides collide, it's bound to an epic, and this one was nothing less.

Ángel di María may have been a slug all season long at Manchester United, but for his country, dude's a beast:

This pinpoint crosser can turn into a goal machine in an instant.

A mere eight minutes later, Argentina strolled through the Chilean defense yet again. This time, it was Éver Banega with the celebration rights:

Chile’s defense simply lost its grip.

It was too little, too late when their attack got something to cheer about, when José Fuenzalida scored a late consolation goal:

This means their national anthem is 0-2 in Copa play:

What're the odds of that?

6000:1, maybe?

Less?
