Alexis Sánchez Opens His Manchester United Account

The Red Devils new No 7 is on the board.

Alexis Sánchez got his goal-scoring show on the road this afternoon at Old Trafford.

Huddersfield Town wasn't too excited to see it firsthand, especially as they were on the short end of Manchester United's 2-0 result.

This was a sure three points for United given their opponents are sitting precariously holding down 19th placein a a 20-team table.

Still, the Devils wanted to make sure they wouldn't have to compensate for slipping on banana skins again, as they were forced to do at the turn of the year.

Juan Mata’s tasteful cross was met perfectly by Romelu Lukaku’s left foot to thrill the locals at Old Trafford:

Lukaku's like a tiger pouncing on its prey when he lurks in the penalty box.

Then came the moment that United fans -- and the board members who pay his salary -- were dying to see.

The Alexis Sánchez goal:

There was already lotsa pressure on him to score, so at least that's been relieved.

Dude had a little fumble with the penalty, but being quick to the rebound means he put a clean hit in the scorebook.

It's customary for the club to pay tribute at the home game closest to the anniversary of the disastrous Munich air crash, with today's match with Huddersfield being the one this season.

Fans gathered outside the Munich plaque 90 minutes before kickoff to commemorate an annual event consisting of readings, prayers and a rendition of The Flowers of Manchester, while players wore black armbands and held a minute's silence before kick-off.
