Late Cherries Comeback Stuns Stoke City

What a week Bournemouth has had!

A thumping win over reigning champions Chelsea in mid-week, and now a late comeback against scrambling Stoke.

The Cherries were able to turn damn near a game-long deficit around and prevailed at Vitality Stadium -- aka Dean Court to the OGs -- 2-1.

This was an absolute crusher for the Potters. It put them in the third relegation spot on goal difference.

 

Yes, it's only February, but as close as the race to avoid the bottom looks to be this season, these lost two points could be like tossing gold back in the mine.

 

The game started beautifully for Stoke.

Xherdan Shaqiri, the dude known for ditching Liverpool for the Potters, scored the first goal at the 5-minute mark:

 

Who would've thought the smallest pillar in Stoke’s rank of tallness would score on an opening header?

That tally held all the way until the 70th minute, when Bournemouth’s Joshua King stepped up freshly from the bench and converted a sweet team play:

 

Defensive errors during set pieces are rare sights from Stoke's defense, but such was the case which led the Cherries' Lys Mousset to score on an open header:
