The Shot Dude: Welcome to the Working Week

Just like Elvis Costello's told us in his song from the late 70's:

Welcome to the working week
I know it don't thrill you
I hope it won't kill you

Your favorite Shot Dude feels it, too. The grind of getting back into the swing of the regular routine after the holiday season is never easy.

Polar-bear-tired

There's no way around it, but I'll make this Monday better with some quality NHL stalwarts for you fantasy lineup.

The five-game schedule is available on our Home page via the Bovada data tool:

FanDuel is the place to start off every winning week, so go make your lineups over there.

Forwards

Alexander SteenSt Louis ($7900) ... is currently second on the Blues with the 120 shots he's taken. Dude's rung up 35 points in 41 games, including 14 on the power play. He's also been quite involved in his team's recent scoring with 9 points in his last 10 games. Tonight presents a great environment for scoring, as St Louis will defend home ice against Ottawa, who's surrendered 64 goals in just 20 road games.

Jannik HansenVancouver ($5900) ... has really profited from playing on the Canucks' top line with the Sedin twins. Dude's produced 22 points in 39 games so far. He's a cinch to break his career high of 16 goals, having already scored 12 on 72 shots. Vancouver has home ice advantage tonight against an improved Arizona club. That being said, the Coyotes are still under .500 on the road and have let in 66 goals in 20 away games.

Jordan EberleEdmonton ($5700) ... has picked up his scoring pace since his injury setback earlier this season and is up to 61 shots in his 27 games played. He's notched 4 goals and 9 points total in his last 10 games, quite an improvement over just the 7 points he produced in his first 17 games. The Oilers welcome Carolina tonight, who's not only allowed 54 goals in 19 road games but owns the NHL's worst away penalty kill at a dismal 71.4%.

Defensemen

Drew DoughtyLos Angeles ($7000) ... has fired 91 shots on goal in 38 games to date. This has resulted in 24 points, 10 of which have come on the power play. Most recently, dude's produced 7 points in his last 8 contests, helping the Kings to wins in six of those games. Los Angeles will risk their five-game winning streak by visiting Colorado, who inexplicably has the second-lowest total of home wins with just six this season.

Justin FaulkCarolina ($6300) ... is a player I often use when paying up for blueliners. Faulk not only leads the Hurricanes in shots with 115, but also total points (30) and power play points (15) in 39 games. 12 of his 14 goals have come on the power play. This should come in handy tonight when Carolina invades Edmonton, who have a below-average home penalty kill of 78.3% and have given up 55 goals in 19 games on their own ice.

Hurricanes v Oilers

Goaltender

Jacob MarkströmVancouver ($6900) ... will make his fifth straight start tonight. I always love a netminder that you can insert into your lineup at a great price, who in this case is also playing very well. He has victories in 3 of 4, recording a.937 save percentage and allowing an average of just 1.93 goals per game. Markström defends his home crease against Arizona, who have lit the lamp 50 times in 20 road games. The Coyotes are not great on their road power plays, converting on just 15.7% of them this season.

Your favorite Shot Dude hopes your week welcomes you with a winning night of fantasy games.
