The Shot Dude: TerrificTwosomes

A twosome is defined as: a pair of people considered together.

In hockey, a twosome working together is terrific to watch and can be dangerous to its opponent.

Your favorite Shot Dude has returned with three duos that figure prominently in whether their NHL teams win or lose tonight. Hopefully, you can springboard off my ideas and create a winning fantasy squad.

Tampa Bay already laid a 4-2 decision on Pittsburgh this afternoon with Steve Stamkos netting his 300th career goal with a tap-in, but neither of those teams had a pair that was on my list today.

Here are tonight's twosomes to watch:

From Edmonton:

Forwards Jordan Eberle ($6600) & Connor McDavid ($7600) ... have combined for an incredible 26 points in the 9 games they've played together since McDavid has returned from injury. This duo makes up two-thirds of Edmonton's top scoring line and two-fifths of their No 1 power play line.

When healthy, these two have launched a total of 157 shots, resulting in 28 goals, although it hasn't translated into many wins lately; the Oil has only 3 victories in their last 9 times on the ice. I think they get a victory tonight against Colorado. Not only has Edmonton played their best hockey at home with a 15-12-2 record there, but the Avalanche have surrendered the sixth-highest amount of goals with 166 in 60 games this season.

From Washington:

Forward Evgeny Kuznetsov ($7000) & Defensemen John Carlson ($5700) ... have taken a total of 221 shots between them and have recorded 89 points, with 24 of those coming via the power play. These two are huge reasons why Washington has a commanding lead in the Metropolitan Division, and it's not even close!

The Capitals have a 16-point lead on the Rangers, and their goal differential is an astounding +59. In comparison, the next closest team, the defending champion Blackhawks, have 81 points and a +33. I think Washington increases both these numbers on home ice tonight at the expense of New Jersey, the team that has scored the least amount of goals with just 128 in 59 games so far this season.

From St Louis:

Defensemen Kevin Shattenkirk ($5200) & Goaltender Brian Elliott ($9000) ... provide the last line of defense for the Blues, and have done it to perfection lately. With four straight wins over the likes of Los Angeles, Florida, Tampa Bay, and Dallas, the Blues just might have something to say about the race in the Central Division after all.

Shattenkirk has taken 131 shots and tallied 29 points in 50 games. Elliott has collected 6 wins in his last 8 appearances -- including victories over the four teams listed above -- and has only surrendered 5 goals on the last 123 shots he's seen. Going into tonight's showdown with Arizona, St Louis finds themselves just 4 points behind Chicago for the lead in the standings. Not only is Arizona fourth-worst in the league with 178 goals surrendered, but they also own the fourth-worst penalty kill at a paltry 77.9%.

Your favorite Shot Dude hopes you double up on your competition and bring home some fantasy cash tonight.

Please love one another, and always give it your best shot!
