The Shot Dude: Fairy Tales

Some things in life have a way of intimidating us to the point of fear and dread.

When your favorite Shot Dude first glanced at today's gargantuan NHL schedule, I felt like tiny Jack looking up at the imposing beanstalk he had to climb.

But there should be no fear or dread today as your favorite Shot Dude has combed through the NHL haystack and found some sparkling needles for you to sew together a winning fantasy lineup.

Take a gander at today's eleven-game schedule by using the Bovada data tool on our Home page.

Included are FanDuel's prices listed after each player. Give FanDuel a shot if you haven't already.

Forwards

Tyler Seguin, Dallas ($8800) ... has averaged just under 4 shots per game, resulting in a scoring average of just under 1.5 points per game. Any time a history of reliable scoring exists from this strong a player versus a weaker opponent at home, your favorite Shot Dude wants in! Seguin may just be one of the NHL's strongest even-strength and power play threats on skates. Buffalo comes to Dallas with the second-worst penalty kill in the NHL at just 72.9%. In addition, Dallas just happens to have the second-best power play in the NHL at 28.3%. I like Seguin's chances to add to his 9 power play points tonight.

Tobias Rieder, Arizona ($5400) ... has scored 5 goals on 53 shots with 6 assists and has gone virtually unnoticed. Since Arizona often plays their games later in the evening, most of the country is missing Rieder's talent. The Coyotes are another team in a great matchup today, as Winnipeg has only won 3 of their last 10 games. A strong reason why is the Jets' tendancy to give up too many goals. These dudes have surrendered 62 lamp-lighters in 20 games, which ranks as fourth-worst in the NHL. The 'Peg has also taken the most penalties of any team, so Rieder and the Yotes' power play will be busy.

Loui Eriksson, Boston ($5300) ... just scored a hat trick in his last game. This gives him 9 goals and 17 points in just 18 games so far. Eriksson has been deadly on the power play, with 5 goals and 7 points total by being a staple on the Bruins' No 1 unit. Boston will skate on home ice against the Leafs, who to their credit is middle of the pack defensively. Your favorite Shot Dude just likes to ride the hot player sometimes and Eriksson is scorching presently.

Defensemen

Aaron Ekblad, Florida ($5300) ... has taken more shots than any Panther so far ,,with 49. This has resulted in 4 goals, 2 of which were game-winners, and 1 was on the power play. Ekblad is a fixture on both Florida's top defensive and power play units. Your favoriteShot Dude always looks for blueliners who lead their team in shots against teams that have a high shots-against per game average. Good news for Ekblad and the Panthers tonight, as the Rangers are fifth-worst in the NHL in that category

Alexander Edler, Vancouver ($4700) ... has compiled very similar statistics as Ekblad, but you can insert him into your lineup at a lower price. Edler also is on his team's top defensive pairing and power play line, and he sees almost 25 minutes of ice time per game. Of his 9 points, 4 have come on the power play as well as 2 of his 4 goals. Chicago's road woes continue, meanhile, as they've only won 3 away contests and have given up over 3 goals per game on opposing ice.

Goaltender

Braden Holtby, Washington ($9600) ... and his opponent are trending in opposite directions. Holtby was won two straight games, while Colorado has lost back-to-back contests. Not only has he won 7 of his last 10, but dude's one of only 6sixnetminders to win 10 games this season. He's second-best amongst them with an excellent 1.94 goals against average. Colorado will play its sixth of a grinding seven-game road trip tonight and will not return to home ice until 25 November.

I truly hope the moral to your story today is: Winning comes to those who heed the advice of the Shot Dude!

Always remember that in fantasy sports, as in life, you've to to take your best shot!
