The Shot Dude: Bangers and Smash

A traditional English meal consisting of sausages and mashed potatoes is called bangers and mash.

I'm all in for a good meal, but your favorite Shot Dude is serving up something quite different.

I've got the scoop on some skaters that not only dominate offensively, but can dish out the punishment to their opponents. These agents of banging and smashing will not only win their way into your heart, but also onto your fantasy team if you're smart.

You can view all of today's NHL matchups with the help of the Bovada data tool located on our Home page:

Forwards

Mark ScheifeleWinnipeg ($7100) ... has turned his season around by notching 8 goals and 6 helpers in his last 9 games. Even though the Jets haven't been winning, Scheifele is turning is a fine season on both ends of the ice. Dude's racked up totals of 21 goals on 149 shots and 22 assists in 56 games. Winnipeg will skate home ice against Colorado, the team that gives up over 32 shots, 3 power plays, and almost 3 goals per contest.

Jussi JokinenFlorida ($6100) ... is a fan of playing Philadelphia. When Jokinen laces up his skates today, it'll be the 29th time he will face the Flyers. Dude's already burned them for 10 goals and 13 helpers in his career so far. The 49 points in 67 games he accumulated this season is not too shabby, either. I really like Florida's chances to win at home tonight since they've only allowed 2.43 goals/game on average, while Philadelphia has only scored an average of 2.58 goals/game.

Alex GalchenyukMontréal ($5900) ... has lit the lamp 11 times in his last 8 games, and get this: twice in each of the last three games. We must ride this streak! Dude also has four points in five games against tonight's opponent, Minnesota. Galchenyuk has found the back of the net 25 times on 174 shots this season and is a huge presence on the Canadiens' power play. The Wild have been an add team in defending the man-advantage. While they only give up an average of 2.47 chances per game, they're third-worst in the league with a lowly 76.19 penalty kill percentage.

Defensemen

Erik KarlssonOttawa ($6700) ... is one of the league's best banger/offensive threat combination players. Dude's launched 211 shots and produced 70 points in 69 games this season. I'll feel bad for Toronto when Karlsson smashes many of them into the boards tonight. He's also owned the Leafs with 7 assists in 3 games this season and 24 points in 28 career games.Toronto has a league-low 55 points in the standings and has lost 8 of their last 10 games.

Drew DoughtyLos Angeles ($6200) ... is another offensive-minded d-man who can bang with the best of them. Riding a mini three-game scoring streak, Doughty now has 13 goals on 158 shots and 31 assists in 66 games for the Kings, who will enjoy home ice against road-weary New Jersey. The Devils still have a slim chance to make the playoffs, but Los Angeles has won 7 of 10 and sit atop the Pacific Division with 84 points.

Goaltender

Cam TalbotEdmonton ($8300) ... has been playing his best hockey of the season lately, with little to no fanfare. Winning 5 out of his last 6 starts, Talbot has only surrendered seven goals in those games. Tonight's matchup looks tasty, too. Dude gets to face a winded Arizona team who just played in Calgary last night. Also in Talbot's favor is Arizona has only won twice in their last ten games, owns a dreadful 12-19-3 road record, and only averages 2.66 goals/game.

Your favorite Shot Dude hopes you feast on a winning night of fantasy games.
